Listen: M.I.A. – “AtTENTion”
The squeaky wheel still gets the oil, apparently. A group of M.I.A.’s persistent fans harassed her for new music via Twitter and she actually emailed one of them a brand new song, “AtTENTion”. Buhlee dat! No clue if it’s gonna be on her forthcoming album, Matangi, but it’ll at least hold us over until then. “AtTENTion” is classic M.I.A. with charged political lyrics (i.e. “The fullest attempt in my intent/ Is to let you know what is important/ My existence is militant/ Cause my content bangs like it’s potent.”) and a decidedly intense range of auto-tuned vocals. Keep your ears open for all the little elements she’s included, too.
