COOL BREEZY – The First Year

THROWIN HUNNITS

Dear Friends,

It’s been a year since I started Cool Breezy and I’d like to offer this compilation, Throwin Hunnits, as a small digital token of immense appreciation for allowing me to be a part of your lives, inviting me to your parties, sending me your music, and otherwise, just supporting the fuck out of me.  Last January, I lost my job of four years and come February, I started Cool Breezy in a last-ditch effort to keep me from spiraling into a depressing pattern of uselessness.  I created something from nothing but the impetus of boredom and as it turns out, I stumbled into the exciting world of music and the welcoming arms of like-minded individuals.

Over the past year, I’ve been lucky enough to get to know some of the coolest creators and music fanatics who have offered me their support from day one.  I’m very humbled by the experiences I’ve had so far, like meeting some of my favorite musicians, being recruited to write pieces for other blogs (because they actually dig my writing?!), having Cool Breezy win 2nd Place for Best Entertainment Blog in the Baltimore Sun, and of course, meeting lifelong friends and mentors.  Honestly, I didn’t even think I had it in me.  But I continue to surprise myself every day.

So what’s next for Cool Breezy?  My arms can only extend so far, so eventually I’d like to somehow expand my reach to offer you something more meaningful.  The Internet is a wonderful resource that allows one to feel like they are essentially in eight places at once, and frankly, I probably wouldn’t be here without it, but the real world has so much more to offer.  For example, I wasn’t completely sold on moombahton until I heard it in real life at Moombahton Massive on the famously loud U Hall soundsystem.  The real life vibes, sounds, and experience were way more revolutionary than anything that could be conveyed over SoundCloud.  So in Year Two, I’d like to offer you more ways to get off The Internet and into real life to have more fun and experience what I’ve been able to within the past year.  There is absolutely nothing like the camaraderie and sonic experience of hearing music and seeing the good vibes unfold in real life.  We all know this.  But until then, you’ll be seeing a lot more of me in the streets, coming to your events, and eatin’ up all your snacks and love.  Thanks for everything. <3

Throwin Hunnits is a cross-section of some of the tracks I was listening to last summer when I was blogging with no pants on or roaming the streets in a hot blaze of glory.  You probably have the majority of these songs, but I figured they’d provide a good time as a whole compilation.  Enjoy.
